Internship Opportunity for High School Students

What is The Flagship Program?

The Flagship Program is a community-school partnership that provides skill-building opportunities that enhance the social, academic & cultural achievement of Missoula’s youth to help them succeed in school and become productive adults.

What is an intern?

An intern is someone who works in a temporary position with an emphasis on on-the-job training. Internships in non-rofit organizations are generally volunteer positions that may be part-time or full-time.

Why intern with Flagship?

Flagship interns will learn new skills and earn great incentives. Many students will be looking for jobs or seeking additional educational opportunities in the coming years and interning is a great way to build your resume and receive letters of recommendation.

Incoming 9th grade interns will have an opportunity to tour their new high school and meet new friends, making the transition between middle school and high school more comfortable.

The Flagship Program is a non-profit that has been providing free activities for youth since 1996 and working with The Flagship Program is a great way to give back to your community.

What kinds of jobs are available?

Some examples of internship positions available are playground/splash deck assistants, swim assistant, sports coaching (folf, soccer, basketball, running and more), arts and crafts assistant, food fun assistant, field trip assistant and dance instructor assistant.

What are the hours like?

Depending on the activities you choose, you may work between 4 and 30 hours per week. You get to choose the hours most convenient for you and your family. Programs meet Monday through Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm from mid-June through mid-July.

How will I be placed?

You will be placed at an elementary school feeding into your high school. Big Sky students will be placed at Franklin Elementary, Sentinel students at Hawthorne Elementary and Hellgate students at Lowell Elementary.

All applicants will be screened for interest area, desired skills and availability during the interview. No student will be placed outside his/her comfort level.
