Greetings! My name is Gena Moore and I am the Youth Development Coordinator at Lowell Elementary. I must say that I am thrilled to be a part of The Flagship Program and also feel privileged to be participating in the Lowell community!

My upbringing consisted of a wonderful family in a small town along Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. This is where I discovered my love for the outdoors and developed a passion for rivers. Something that has defined me since high school is guiding whitewater rafting trips and rowing big boats! Ever since my Environmental Studies teacher gave me my first job as a river guide I have seen some of the world’s most beautiful places. One of many examples as to how teachers can impact the lives of their students!

My other personal hobbies include fly fishing, snowboarding, hiking, traveling, photography, music (especially bluegrass!), movies, writing and cooking. 

In 2007, I graduated from the University of Montana with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation Resource Management. With that degree I have worked with students in the outdoors instructing and educating them on environmental awareness, river safety and recreational opportunity. Most of which was spent with Montana River Guides as a Program Coordinator and Lead Guide on the Alberton Gorge.

I look forward to sharing the enthusiasm Lowell has for broadening the horizons of its youth! Please let me know if you have any suggestions or would like to volunteer with Lowell students.
